Our Farm

Raising Cattle Responsibly Since 2018

Since 2018, we have been proud to provide families with wholesome, farm-fresh beef. Our cattle are born and raised right here on our farm in Caroline County, Virginia. We are fully insured, hold a current business license, and are permitted by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) to sell our meat.

Our cattle are hormone-free, forage-raised, and grain-finished for 90 days prior to harvest; grass-fed options are also available upon request. We are proud to be a Certified Virginia Verified Beef producer and hold Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification. Because we maintain a closed herd, we take biosecurity very seriously; consequently, all farm visits are by appointment only.

A little about our family:
Laura holds a certificate in Farm Biosecurity, has completed studies in Beef Cattle Management and Production at Penn State, and earned her Master Cattleman’s certificate from Virginia Tech. She is BQA certified and holds a Masters of Beef Advocacy from the National Beef Association. Additionally, she is an active member of the Virginia Cattlemen’s Association, the Virginia Angus Association, and the Virginia Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership program, where she advocates for agricultural policies at the local and state levels.

Tim studied Agriculture at Virginia Tech. Alongside managing our farm, he serves as a Fire Technician II for Spotsylvania County Fire and Rescue and helps operate his family’s commodity farm, which produces hay and soybeans.

Our Story

Local Family Farm

At Turnagain Farms, we take pride in raising high-quality Red and Black Angus cattle across Hanover and Caroline County, Virginia. Our breeding program focuses on superior genetics to ensure the health and quality of our herd.

Farming is a family tradition for us; as a fourth-generation farmer, Tim brings a wealth of agricultural experience to our operation. His family transitioned from dairy farming to commodity agriculture in 1995, specializing in premium hay for horses, goats, and cattle. In 2010, after years of managing his family’s beef herd, we established our own Red Angus operation, drawn specifically to the breed's docile temperament. We maintain a herd of approximately 40 cattle, a size that allows us to provide focused, individual care to ensure our animals remain happy and healthy.

We founded Turnagain Farms to provide families with the transparency of knowing exactly where their food comes from. It is an honor to supply our community with wholesome, farm-fresh beef, and we approach this responsibility with the utmost seriousness. We are fully insured and committed to excellence, strictly adhering to all federal and state guidelines, licensing, and safety permits.
